Arrive at Paro International Airport, where your Bhutanese guide will meet you after customs clearance. Transfer to your hotel for check-in and rest. In the afternoon, begin exploring the historical heart of the Paro Valley.
Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples built in the 7th century, home to an ancient statue of Jowo Jamba. Continue to Rinpung Dzong to understand Bhutanese dzong architecture and monastic life. If time permits, visit the National Museum housed in a restored watchtower overlooking the valley. Enjoy a local dinner and prepare gear for the following day.

Begin the day with a hike to Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest, perched at 3,120 meters above the Paro Valley floor. The round-trip trek covers approximately 9 kilometers, takes 4 to 5 hours, and gains nearly 870 meters in elevation. The hike helps acclimatize before the high-altitude trek ahead.
After descending and a late lunch, drive 2.5 hours to Haa Valley via winding roads and alpine forests. Upon arrival in Haa (elevation ~2,700 meters), settle into your guesthouse and rest for the Sagala trek starting the next day.

After a short 20-minute drive to Talung village trailhead, begin your trek toward Sagala Pass. The trail leads through isolated farms, bridges, and meadows with mild elevation gain. Trek covers 8 kilometers over 4 to 5 hours.
Reach Khadey Gom meadow (camp altitude 3,235 meters), where your tented camp awaits in a quiet highland field. Rest and enjoy a freshly prepared mountain meal.

Wake early to summit Sagala Pass with sweeping views over the Haa Valley, Drukgyel Dzong in Paro, and distant Himalayan peaks. Continue through exposed alpine terrain and scattered rhododendron forests.
Today’s trail spans 12 kilometers over 5 to 6 hours. Reach camp near Ningula Pass at 4,191 meters, nestled among highland ridges and offering clear skies in the dry seasons.

Your final trekking day follows ridgelines and crosses above the tree line with conifer forests tapering into alpine slopes. Total distance is 13 kilometers over 6 to 7 hours, with steady elevation shifts and varied terrain.
Chelela Pass marks the end of the trek at 4,300 meters. From here, view both Haa and Paro Valleys, and optionally visit the traditional sky burial site. Meet your vehicle for a 2-hour descent into Paro and a well-earned shower and dinner.
